The Estonian Auditors’ Association conferred decorations on the promoters of auditing activities

The Estonian Auditors’ Association conferred decorations to the promoters of audit activities who have substantially contributed to the development of the audit sector and build-out of the professional association of auditors.

In the opening speech of the 25th anniversary conference of the Estonian Auditors’ Association, Minister of Finance Sven Sester expressed his gratitude to all the accounting experts who had made an invaluable contribution to the development of audit activities and noted that auditing in Estonia had shown meaningful content - the auditors of Estonia are members of a network that is guided by internationally accepted principles for ensuring reliable financial information and a better business environment.

According to Märt-Martin Arengu, president of the Estonian Auditors’ Association, auditing activities have developed into a strong and uniform profession during the past decades, and the day-to-day work of auditors in auditing as well as in financial advising involves advocating a transparent and reliable business environment. The audit sector has been developed through the substantial contribution made by the persons who have shared their knowledge and experience for the benefit of the profession and have been leaders in implementing the necessary changes.

The design of the decoration is based on the triangular quality mark of the Estonian Auditors’ Association that has been granted to all sworn auditors. The apexes of the triangle symbolise the synergy among the three partners in auditing activities – auditor, entrepreneur, public interest.

The decorations were conferred to:

  • Urmas Kaarlep – a recognised opinion leader in the audit sector and a longstanding member of the management board of the Estonian Auditors’ Association;
  • Urve Kipper – one of the founders and leaders and a longstanding manager of the Estonian Auditors’ Association;
  • Tõnis Jakob – a recognised trainer and a longstanding member of the management board of the Estonian Auditors’ Association;
  • Kurmet Ojamaa – an important leader of the development of accounting legislation;
